Features

SVG dependency links in Scheduler and Gantt

Right-angled event links in the Scheduler and task links in the Gantt chart now use SVG, giving lines, arrows, and hover styles a consistent appearance. Existing right-angled links use the new rendering automatically.

Choose "RightAngled" using Scheduler.linkShape and set the line thickness with Scheduler.linkWidth:

scheduler.update({
  linkShape: "RightAngled",
  linkWidth: 3
});
scheduler links 7040
Right-angled links connect work across resource rows. Link text can now label these routes as well.

The Scheduler also supports link text for right-angled links. Use the event links demo to compare shapes, line widths, arrows, and pointer targets. See the link shape guide for configuration.

Choose arrow sizes for your dependencies

Adjust arrowheads to suit the line thickness and the spacing between events or tasks. Set Scheduler.linkArrowSize or Gantt.linkArrowSize to a size in pixels. The default "Auto" value uses the component's default arrow size.

For example, configure an existing Gantt chart with two-pixel links and eight-pixel arrows:

gantt.update({
  linkWidth: 2,
  linkArrowSize: 8
});

To emphasize an individual dependency, set arrowSize on its link data. This example uses a fourteen-pixel arrow and a red line:

{
  id: "review-link",
  from: "build",
  to: "review",
  color: "#dc2626",
  arrowSize: 14
}
gantt links 7040
The configured arrow size is eight pixels; the dependency leading to Review overrides it with fourteen pixels.

The Gantt chart also gains linkWidth for controlling line thickness. Try the Gantt links demo.

Make thin links easier to hover and click

Keep dependency lines thin while giving users a wider target for hovering, clicking, opening a link menu, or displaying a bubble. Set Scheduler.linkHitAreaMinWidth or Gantt.linkHitAreaMinWidth to the minimum target width in pixels. The default is 8.

scheduler.update({
  linkWidth: 2,
  linkHitAreaMinWidth: 16
});
hit area links 7040
The pointer is beside the two-pixel line, inside its sixteen-pixel target area, so the link bubble still opens.

The target area is invisible and does not change the drawn line width. A larger target also receives pointer actions over more of the cells beneath the link, so choose a width suited to your layout.

Improvements

Scheduler

  • Improved Event Links demo: configurable link shape, link width, arrow size, and hover zone width. (2026.3.7018)
  • Right-angled event links (see link shape) are rendered using SVG: this improves styling, edges, and arrows. (2026.3.7018)
  • DayPilot.Scheduler.linkArrowSize property supported ("Auto" | number). (2026.3.7019)
  • DayPilot.Scheduler.linkHitAreaMinWidth property added (default value: 8). (2026.3.7024)
  • Link text supported for RightAngled link shape. (2026.3.7025)
  • Event links: round joins in the default CSS theme. (2026.3.7027)

Gantt

General

  • DayPilot.Link.data: arrowSize property added - allows overriding the global linkArrowSize (Scheduler, Gantt) (2026.3.7033)

Fixes

Scheduler

  • Event links (especially those with a larger linkWidth) no longer remain visible behind the end arrow. (2026.3.7021)
  • Event link hover style (opacity) is correctly applied to the whole link, including the arrow. (2026.3.7021)

API Changes

If your application customizes dependency links with CSS, update its selectors to the unified SVG classes listed below. The former div-based selectors have been removed from the default theme. The former curved-link class names remain for compatibility, but their theme CSS rules have been removed.

Scheduler

  • New unified CSS classes for RightAngled and Curved links: scheduler_default_link_svg_group, scheduler_default_link_svg_path, scheduler_default_link_svg_dot, scheduler_default_link_svg_marker, scheduler_default_link_svg_text, scheduler_default_link_svg_mshadow, scheduler_default_link_svg, scheduler_default_link_svg_hit. (2026.3.7024)
  • Previous curved link CSS classes remain in code for backwards compatibility (but are removed from CSS): scheduler_default_link_curved_*. (2026.3.7024)
  • CSS classes related to previous div-based link implementation were removed: scheduler_default_link_horizontal, scheduler_default_link_vertical, scheduler_default_link_arrow_right, scheduler_default_direction_rtl, scheduler_default_link_arrow_left, scheduler_default_link_arrow_down, scheduler_default_link_arrow_up, scheduler_default_link_mshadow, scheduler_default_link_dot, scheduler_default_link_shadow, scheduler_default_link_shadow_circle, scheduler_default_link_hover (2026.3.7024)
